A former teacher at Archbishop Hannan High School has pleaded guilty to giving marijuana laced brownies to two students.
Camille Brennan, 31, is scheduled to be sentenced January 5 by Judge Raymond Childress of Louisiana’s 22nd judicial District Court. She told authorities she provided the brownies to make the students “happy”. Camille pleaded guilty to two counts of distribution of marijuana to a student and is expected to receive a 10 year prison sentence, with 7 years suspended.
According to the District Attorney’s office, Brennan will be on probation for 5 years after she is released. She will be ordered to undergo substance abuse and mental health evaluations and have no unsupervised contact with minors. The students and their parents were consulted about the case and that they indicated agreement with it.
Brennan admitted giving two students marijuana brownies on May 1, 2015. She also asked the students to lie in an attempt to cover up the crime and destroyed a written statement by one of the students. The crime came to light after one of the students fell ill. She admitted to a relative that she had eaten two brownies containing marijuana and that a teacher had supplied them. The relative also uncovered social media conversations in which Brennan and the student used make up names to discuss the making of marijuana brownies.
Brendan was suspended immediately then fired by the Covington area school.
