Hemp can be used for many things including fuel, paper, food, rope, clothes, etc. The product is extremely versatile and can be grown in practically any climate.
Did you know that one acre of hemp can produce four times the amount of paper that one acre of trees produces? Not only that, but it grows much faster than trees and it is a much cheaper material to use to produce paper.
Up until 1883, 90% of the world’s paper was created from hemp. The quality of hemp paper is superior to paper made from trees. It can last hundreds of years without degrading and requires fewer chemicals for production than tree-based paper. Using hemp for products can save trees and wildlife from being destroyed. Deforestation is considered to be an extremely dangerous practice. It is terrible for the environment and takes away a major oxygen source and wildlife habitats.
Not only is it a better alternative for paper, but it is also a great product for clothes. Hemp is extremely durable and requires less maintenance than cotton. With hemp, fewer pesticides would be needed and the product would produce more per acre. Cotton requires lots of warmth and water, but hemp can grow in many climates.
Depending on where a crop is grown, hemp can be recycled multiple times.
Hemp fabric also contains natural anti-mildew, UV protection, thermodynamic, and hypoallergenic properties. This makes it desirable to use for many products.
With the economic and environmental benefits of using hemp for resources, why don’t we switch over to hemp produced products altogether?
